Evening Masterwork: Les Sylphides by Frederic Chopin

Frederic Chopin (1810 – 1849)

Les Sylphides by Frederic Chopin

Evening Masterwork for November 1, 2019 – 7:00 PM on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9

Frederic Chopin’s Les Sylphides was not always music composed for full orchestra. The music was adapted for the Ballet Russes from several of Chopin’s existing popular piano works, and Les Sylphides made its Paris debut as one of the first plotless ballets – and it was a success. Originally composed for piano, we’ll hear a version for full orchestra tonight at 7: Chopin’s Les Sylphides, our Evening Masterwork, on Classical WSMR.
