Modern Notebook Interview: Vivian Fung

Vivian Fung is a JUNO-award winning composer who NPR has called “one of today’s most eclectic composers.” Her piece Fanfare will be performed by the Florida Orchestra their Winter Dreams concert, coming up November 15 and 16 in Tampa and St. Pete, along with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 and Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. In this conversation, Vivian talks about Fanfare, as well as her compositional interests, a new trumpet concerto that she’s writing, and her recently premiered String Quartet No. 4.
