Thanksgiving Day Programming on Classical WSMR

Join Classical WSMR for Thanksgiving! All Day

Russell Gant, Bethany Cagle, and Tyler Kline will be your perfect Thanksgiving companions throughout Thanksgiving Day! As the smell of cooking turkey and yummy pie fills your home, we’ll be featuring the loveliest classical music with special pieces by American composers; music inspired by America; autumn and harvest selections; and familiar favorites. This year you’ll hear a lovely arrangement of “America the Beautiful,” Percy Grainger’s “Harvest Hymn,” and Vivaldi’s “Autumn from The Four Seasons.” Our Thanksgiving Evening Masterwork at 7pm features Dvorak’s String Quartet No. 12 in F – “American.”

Listen for these selections along with many more treats for your holiday table. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Classical WSMR 89.1 & 103.9!

Join Russell Gant for a special broadcast of the 40th anniversary concert featuring the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. The program, called “Awake and Sing,” celebrates in song the Chorale’s long musical history in our community. Opening with O Fortuna from Carmina Burana, moving through their repertoire with works by Eric Whitacre, Brahms, and a cool spin on a Bach Chorale.

Sunday Baroque: Sunday December 1st, 10am-2pm

Our Thanksgiving holiday was originally intended as an expression of gratitude for a successful harvest and hunt. As you’re wrapping up your Thanksgiving holiday weekend, cleaning up after the guests and finishing up the leftovers, Sunday Baroque will feature music that celebrates gratitude and the autumn season.

Listen on air at 89.1 FM and 103.9 FM (in Tampa). Stream online at wsmr.org.
