Walking 2,200 steps, climbing the equivalent of 110 stories and attending solemn memorials are some of the ways you can pay respect to those who died during the horrific events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.
Here is a list of 9/11 events scheduled around the Tampa Bay area.
Hillsborough County
First responders, veterans and civic leaders honor those lost while aiming to inspire a generation too young to recall the events of 9/11. High school Junior ROTC members and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue cadets will lead the Fallen Heroes Memorial cereomy. A Will include a traditional fire service bell-ringing.

Pinellas County
Join the Tampa Bay Rowdies and first responders at Al Lang Stadium as they climb 110 stories - 2,200 steps - to honor firefighters who climbed the World Trade Center in New York before the twin towers collapsed.
Time: 8:45 and 10:30 a.m.
Location: Al Lang Stadium, 230 First St. S.E., St. Petersburg
Cost: Free (downtown parking fee not included)
The community remembers what happened in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. The ceremony includes a bell-ringing and display of 2,977 American flags, each representing a life lost.

Treasure Island Fire Rescue hosts its annual 3.43-mile walk to reflect on the sacrifice of the 343 firefighters who died responding to the World Trade Center attack and all the victims of the day.

Pasco County
The Port Richey Fire Department invites the community to reflect on the events 25 years ago and the nation's strength and unity that followed.

Polk County
Polk County Fire and local law enforcement agencies put “one foot in front of the other” to pay tribute to the dedication and sacrifices first responders made 25 years ago.
Time: Walk at 4:30 p.m., ceremony at 6

Sarasota County
Former President George W. Bush was at a Sarasota school when he received word of the attacks 25 years ago – forever connecting the city to that infamous day. In observance, the Sarasota Orchestra's Thursday concert will raise proceeds to benefit local first responders.

Location: Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

Sarasota County Emergency Services will join fire and law enforcement agencies, local leaders, veterans, elected officials and other guests for a remembrance ceremony and to stand for the fallen during the tolling of the bell.
Time: 5 to 6:15 p.m.

Climb 17 summits of the Nathan Benderson Park tower - the equivalent of the World Trade Center's 110 stories - with the Sarasota County Fire Department and other first responders. The department will support the event with its honor guard and a ladder truck displaying the American flag.
