On the next Modern Notebook, hear a recording by the NOW Ensemble performing a stunning work by Yevgeniy Sharlat that is interwoven with music he had previously composed for music boxes. Plus, Lou Harrison’s sprawling, five-part Grand Duo for the violin and piano.

Featuring music by Akemi Naito, Jennifer Higdon, and Carlos Simon; and performances by violist Johanna Persson, violinist Jennifer Koh with pianist Reiko Uchida, the group Big Dog Little Dog, and the Lark Quartet with pianist Gary Graffman.

Join Tyler Kline for this week’s Modern Notebook, Sunday night from 8 to 10 on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9.
