On this week’s Modern Notebook, Tyler Kline shares a newly released recording from the Friction Quartet, off their latest album of music that’s all about the fragility of our environment and planet. Also, a piece by Anthony Green for piano and percussion orchestra called “Solution,” which musically evokes the social injustices experienced by both the composer himself, and the soloist who performs the piece.

Plus, music by Emma O’Halloran, Gabriela Lena Frank, Michael Wolters, Isaac Schankler, and others; plus performances by saxophonist Matthew Levy, pianist Liza Stepanova, the Cobalt Duo, pianist Eunmi Ko with the McCormick Percussion Group, flutist Meerenai Shim with pianist Jacob Abela, and more.

That’s on the next Modern Notebook, Sunday night from 8 to 10 EST on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9. Streaming at
