On this day: Nov. 13, 1940, Walt Disney’s animated film, “Fantasia,” starring Mickey Mouse, with Leopold Stokowski leading the Philadelphia Orchestra and narrated by American Composer Deems Taylor, had its premiere at the Broadway Theatre in New York City.

The Official Disney Fan Club says one of the most popular segments of the movie might have looked very different from the famous scene we all know and love.

Originally, there was a suggestion that Dopey, rather than Mickey Mouse should play “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”

That “performance” of Mickey has been called one of his most brilliant, animated appearances.
