Today is Thursday, March 26, 2026.

There was a singer who was said to be a favorite of Richard Strauss. In fact, Soprano Viorica Ursuleac made a career out of singing more than 500 performances of a dozen Strauss roles.

But she didn’t limit her performances to his creations.

She had a vast repertoire of 83 roles, which included Tosca, Turandot and Sieglinde, from Richard Wagner's "Die Walküre."

Ursuleac was born on this day, March 26, 1894, in Romania.
