Listen all weekend long for American masterworks, and perhaps a few surprises.

Music is an indelible part of American tradition.

And as we celebrate this country's 250th birthday, Classical WSMR will share wonderful music with you.

And not just any music, you'll hear unforgettable works like George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man."

Plus, Classical WSMR hosts will share the stories behind some of the music you'll be hearing.

It all starts Friday, July 3, here on Classical WSMR.

Hope you will celebrate with us!

I grew up in a radio household. My dad was a radio newsman, and he used to take me and my siblings to work at his station in Coral Gables. Hearing his voice on the radio was a comfort to me.
