We'll feature a special live performance and music from artists who call this part of Florida home. That's throughout the day.

Public Radio Music Day is coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

This year's celebration reflects how Americans feel about the music on their local public radio stations, "Sounds like Home."

Classical WSMR will feature an hour of live music from Sarasota Opera singers, with a preview of "Hansel and Gretel." And pianist Jesse Martins and cellist Nadine Trudel will play music by Beethoven, Rameau and more. That begins at 12:30 p.m., with a brief simulcast of WUSF and Classical WSMR.

Co-hosted by Mark Michaud and Joe Goetz, Classical WSMR will bring you music from classic live performances and artists who call this area home, even part-time.

Stay with us throughout the day for your favorite classical music.

I grew up in a radio household. My dad was a radio newsman, and he used to take me and my siblings to work at his station in Coral Gables. Hearing his voice on the radio was a comfort to me.
